A new, full-length American Family Insurance commercial featuring JJ Watt was shot entirely around Pewaukee.
The 2 minute 30 second commercial, titled "JJ Watt on
Where His Dreams Began," features the Houston Texans player and Pewaukee
native talking about his journey from a small-town guy to the National
Football League star that he is today.
The commercial takes viewers from the corner of Ryan
Street and Wisconsin Avenue to a drive past houses on the lake. The
camera follows Watt on a kayak on Pewaukee Lake and a lakeside picnic
with his family.
"Growing up in Pewaukee is special. It will always hold a
special place in my heart," Watt says in the commercial. "All of my
firsts were in this town, whether it was my first home run in baseball,
or first touchdown in football, or your first kiss, or your first bad
grade and you try to hide it from your parents. I mean, everything
happened here."
A large chunk of the commercial was also shot at Pewaukee
High School, showing viewers the football stadium, boys locker room and
high school hallways.
"There were a whole lot of memories made in this locker
room," Watt says. "I remember wearing your jersey on Friday, walking
down the hallway thinking you're the coolest person on the entire
planet. All the little things, that's what makes high school in a small
town special."
Watt is a brand ambassador for American Family
Insurance's 'Making a Difference' campaign, which encourages people to
"insure carefully, and dream fearlessly."
"To Houston Texans’ JJ Watt, dreaming fearlessly means
you can accomplish anything," says a post about Watt's role as a brand
ambassador on the American Family Insurance website. "From reaching
elite status in his sport to overcoming multiple injuries, JJ continues
to embody what it means to be a dream champion by investing in local
communities and leading massive philanthropic efforts."
The commercial was posted to the American Family Insurance Facebook page on Sept. 13.
